365 Days of Blogging Challenge | Day 24
There are SO many reasons that I (and many other people) will choose to unfollow others on Twitter and I want to share six of those with you in hopes that you take my advice and stop doing these uber annoying Twitter habits.
- You feed ALL of your Tweets and do not communicate with anyone
- You haven’t updated in months (like 6 months or longer)
- You think I need to learn how to win a free ipad – This is called spam and I’m not that dumb, thanks!
- You are constantly talking negatively about others – If you can’t Tweet anything nice, don’t Tweet at all!
- You criticize me for my views and opinions – Twitter is not a popularity contest and I don’t have to be everyone’s friend!
- You and I do not speak the same language (take this any way you want to)
Every day I see people that are making one and sometimes all of these mistakes. To you they may not be mistakes, but to me and about 95% of the active Twitterverse they are.
What are some reasons you unfollow people on Twitter?

In my short time using Twitter, I have encountered experiences similar to the 6 reasons mentioned. I unfollowed one person after we actually had a good public exchange because that person posted like every 2 minutes for hours on end in the peak hours of evening tweeting. I have people following me who are trying to sell things; and if it is things I’m not interested in, I don’t reciprocate with a follow-back. It is really hard to try to decide what types of people to follow. Some I follow just because of interesting content, not necessarily conducive to my website venture. It is one huge learning experience.
I continue to see people following me to advertise themselves, only to unfollow if I don’t follow back. I also get my share of people following me, getting an email notification, only to find the account has been removed.
