365 Days of Blogging Challenge | Day 21
I love both, but I can’t have both unfortunately. Both of these comment management and integration tools are amazing in their own way, however by the time you finish looking at this post you will see which one has won my heart (for now)
Disqus is a tool I have used on Blogger and Blogspot blogs in the past and have always had a lot of success with it and Commentluv is a newer tool (or at least newer to me) that has a huge potential to entice more people to comment. I’m going to stop rambling on about them and show you some images since they show the difference much better than I can explain.
Disqus
CommentLuv
So what do you think?

What do you find more enticing about commentluv besides the linking to your recent blogpost? Just curious.
Besides the blog post linking I like the way it looks… Clean, simple and uncluttered. Disqus to me looks cluttered, but thats my opinion
Commentluv all the way I agree Disqus has way to much going on.

I don’t use a comment plugin on my personal blog http://LiveIntentionally.org but I use IntenseDebate on my company’s blog http://blog.ourchurch.com. Have you ever used ID?
Initially I started using IntenseDebate because it offered threaded commenting (the ability to reply to specific comments), but now that WordPress has upgraded the native commenting system to do that it’s not an issue.
One thing I like about ID that’s particularly nice on more popular blogs is it gives you the option to subscribe to replies to your comment. If the blog gets 50+ comments on a post, it’s nice to be able to get an email only if someone replies to your comment rather than getting 50+ emails.

I’ve used IntenseDebate, but I think that you either like it or you don’t (just my own opinion) Thanks for visiting my blog, Paul!

Like you I want both but can’t have both. In my case I’m sticking with CommentLuv until HOPEFULLY LiveFyre starts working with CL.
Here is a post that tells me on LiveFyre:

I GET what I want with Commentluv, the other one just don’t deliver what I want it too.

I can say that I have never heard of Disqus before so I will need to read more into the features of that. I have heard commentluv and I think that is great. I would like to try it on my blog to see if I can get more comments but because I am using a free blog platform I am unsure if I can. I need to get my own domain name up I reckon.

Commentluv obviously won me over, but Disqus is a very nifty tool. I do believe you can use it on a free platform as well
I have never commented on the blogs that are without comment Luv plugin
Commentluv is a feed tool whereas disqus is a comment management system. I would love to have the commentluv feature in disqus and I’m looking forward to seeing if new comment management systems such as livefyre will implement it.
If you want to have something other than the default wordpress comment management that also works with commentluv, I’ve found that intense debate has a commentluv plugin option.

I am out looking for a comment management system for my blog but think I will be sticking with default WordPress comments with CommentLuv enabled. I have used Disqus and Intense Debate and both were a little too quirky for me. The latest version of the commentluv plugin is great and integrates well with my blog and it’s other comment system plugins.
It wouldn’t be hard to implement commentluv in LiveFyre (That would be the best combination, I think) but LiveFyre seems set on implementing their own ‘last post’ solution which is likely to mean you require a LiveFyre account to take advantage of it.

I prefer CommentLuv without a doubt! It’s simpler and clearer! I’m definitely going to install it on my blog! Thank you so much for the comparison! : D

No problem, Hayley. I’m quite partial to CommentLuv.
I found the major problem with either comment luv or really any other dofollow system is the sheer amount of spam you have to filter through to keep your blog clean. I abandoned it in the end.
After reading your comparison I decided to install commentluv on one of my photography blogs. I’ll just have to wait and see what happens with the spam!! I am hopeful I’ll remain spam free, but who knows. But thanks for the post, it helped me with my decision

I’ve been a Disqus users for quite a while and like it — from an author’s perspective. What is making me rethink things is that my reader’s perspective is more important. I have had one user reach out to me saying they had problems trying to comment. How many others have had issues and just left? I don’t have any way to know.
Then add in the CommentLuv link-back feature and it is very appealing. It encourages anyone with a blog to comment. Just pay attention as you surf blogs. I’ve noticed the CommentLuv blogs tend to have a lot more comments per post.
There could be a change ahead …

This debate is continues to rage on for me… I have Disqus now but I would love more comments on my blog and I completely agree that CommentLuv draws more comments.
But like you say it’s the readers perspective…
Still with Disqus but maybe not for long…
Thank you.

Thanks for sharing this information. I used to not think about using an interactive blog on my clients site before. What I am starting to see is that there is a huge potential for building an engaged audience on the site.
I recently installed Disqus and was very happy with how it worked. Then I found out that Disqus comments are nofollow by default. Dofollow comments attract way more attention by other bloggers because it benefits them aswell. Commentluv is dofollow by default. In addition it features your last blogpost on your comments. I am currently still using Disqus, but am seriously considering dropping it for commentluv.
Note though that with a script you can make your Disqus comments dofollow as well.
