365 Days of Blogging Challenge | Day 19
We all do it. We all look for free graphics to use in our blog posts. Sometimes we purchase images, but for the most part we use what we can find Online for free.
I do however have to say that I draw a line as to what image I will use in a blog post which now leads me to what I found last night.
Last night I was looking through articles on separating work like from home life when you work at home as part of a resource post I am working on and I came across this post from eHow.com.
To be honest I immediately forgot about the other blog post I was working on when I saw the image that the contributor used.
Honestly, all I could think was WOW and YAY!
Wow because this is after all eHow, a fairly popular website.
Yay because now I had a blog post for today!
Thanks eHow for allowing me the opportunity to tell people just how important image is Online. I don’t mean your own personal picture image. I mean how you present yourself and your brand or site Online. It’s very important and I am still shocked that such a well known site hasn’t caught this epic fail.
Also, if an image is for sale either buy it or don’t use it. We all have to make a living somehow, right?
Moral of this post:
Don’t steal images like this moron did. Either pay for them or find a free one. It may take a little longer, but at least you wont look like a fool!

Kinda like this one from this Twitter spammer http://theblogabouteverything.com/twitter-hot-babe-avatars/
I can’t believe they did that on such an established site pretty sad.

Hey Kim!
Great post and I’m so glad you pointed out the fact that many people make a living by selling pictures! I hate hitting websites where the images are obvious steals from other sites. That’s why all of the graphics on my “Frame by Frame” movie review site, in particular Lloyd, is new and is mine and is copyrighted.
On Flickr I post a lot of racing pictures, (as you are aware I’m a big NASCAR fan). The other day I received a very rude comment from someone who was mad because I have all my pictures on Flickr protected which means people can’t simply click on an image and “steal” it to their computer. After all, I sell my pictures! This guy was upset because my set up wouldn’t allow him to “steal” MY material. I sent him a nice note saying “All my pictures are watermarked, copyrighted and OWNED by me. That means YOU can’t STEAL them. If you’d like to buy one of my pictures, send me a nice email and I will tell you my prices.” I then blocked the user and also reported him to the fine folks at Flickr.
Once again Kim, thanks for the great post and a great reminder to people that “stealing” images for a blog site is WRONG!

Wow! Good catch Kim our so right and I am surprised that they would be so careless! There are a lot of sources out there for free pics including the public domain. A good resource I use is http://www.freestockphotos.biz It surely is not worth the hassle when it comes to something as simple as a photo.
