Today Facebook made the switch on Fanpages meaning that instead of becoming a “Fan” of the page, you simply “Like” the page. Personally for me I find it silly to ask people to “Like” a page. It sounds much better to say “Become a Fan”. What do you think?
I did go to a Fanpage that I was invited to “Like” (I guess?) and have not yet seen the “Like” replacing “Become a Fan”, but I guess it’s only a matter of time before all pages are updated?!
Another new feature that Facebook launched is “Community Pages“. To me this sounds like an awesome way to let people see what you are interested in and also connect with individuals that share the same interests, likes and dislikes.
“Community Pages are a new type of Facebook Page dedicated to a topic or experience that is owned collectively by the community connected to it. Just like official Pages for businesses, organizations and public figures, Community Pages let you connect with others who share similar interests and experiences.
On each Community Page, you’ll be able to learn more about a topic or an experience—whether it’s cooking or learning a new language—and see what your friends and others in the Facebook community are saying about this topic. Community Pages are still in beta, but our long-term goal is to make them the best collection of shared knowledge on a topic. We’re starting by showing Wikipedia information, but we’re also looking for people who are passionate about any of these topics to sign up to contribute to the Page. We’ll let you know when we’re ready for your help.” – Via Facebook
To find out more on Community Pages you can visit the official blog post.
Personally for me, I have yet to see a box pop up when I log onto Facebook, so I really have no say on the Community Pages, YET!

I have no idea why they have changed the pages. It has also stopped you being able to see which people ‘like’ your page. Annoying and needless.
Yeah to be honest I am completely lost as to why they did this. Makes absolutely no sense to me, but maybe it’s just part of their master plan?!?! LOL
Thanks for stopping by Susie
This is a huge, actually MASSIVE change for Facebook. It’s much more interesting to see that people “like” things then become “fans” of things, I hate the idea of being a “Fan” of anything. Not to mention for FB it gives them a massive and instant jump, plus as a fan page owner it’s a great way to get more fans

That is true, I just think it sounds silly to say “Like my page please” LOL I also LOVE what some people are doing with the “Like” pages now. I have to say my favorite is the Fan Page “Big Butts and I Cannot Lie”
What a great resource!
