I know many people fall for these types of scams all the time and am hoping to help educate Internet users on scams like these. Scammers prey on people all over the Internet… On Twitter, Facebook, in blogs, but more-so in their own email inboxes. I received an email today that could easily be taken seriously if you didn’t know what to look for.
Upon clicking the email I immediately went to see who had sent the email before clicking on any links.
The email, although it says it, is not from google. Look at the email address. If it were from gmail or google it would have an @google.com email and not an @gmx.com one.
This is how people get their accounts hacked in to and the easiest way to avoid it is to simply see who actually sent it. If you’re still unsure, do a google search.
Only click on links you’re familiar with!

One thing that works sometimes (but not always) is to check if the company addressed you with your first and last name. For example, if you get a message from PayPal (and I believe eBay?) and your first and last name aren’t included, then it’s probably a scam mail. But beware, because sometimes scammers can find out these things as well. I’m always very sceptical if I get an email saying I should click a link.
You’d be amazing at some of the emails I have in my inbox. These spammers are clearly soulless heartless monsters who prey on the vulnerable. I had one that was clearly targeting OAP’s with talk of government schemes that doubling your pension. Terrible.
