Ahhh Spam, you’re never really ever too far away. You seem to lurk about just waiting for the perfect opportunity to start spewing out your links. You’ve targeted Facebook groups, fanpages and even profiles; you use Twitter hashtags like you were the genius behind them, you auto DM like a fool and basically piss many people off. Unfortunately there are still people out there that aren’t educated when it comes to Spam. Me, I could spot you miles away, but sadly a small percentage still clicks you, engages with you and gives you the feeling of success that makes you want to continue.
Google+ seemed like such a clean, uncluttered platform to build a new circle of connections and engage with old ones. Ahhh… No spam. I can type the word “ipad” into an update and I wont be hit with a ton of Tweets telling me to “Get your free ipad here”.
I was so happy…. Until yesterday. Yesterday I received a notification that someone commented on one of my posts so of course I went to see what was said. What was said was nothing worth looking at or clicking on, it was spam. Spam from someone that wasn’t/isn’t even a connection of mine. I’m afraid that Google may have overlooked this glitch?! Maybe not, but I know I don’t have time in my day to add “battling Google+ spam” to my list of things to do and I’m sure you don’t either.
You can’t directly delete the post off of your post either.
FAIL!
In order to get rid of the comment you need to physically block the person. I pray none of my connections decide to make an offending comment that I would usually just delete because it appears I’ll have to block them from posting/connecting with me. Did Google think this through?
This is where, I believe, Facebook has it right. My Facebook wall is open to the public to see, but only my connections can actually comment or interact with any of it. Sure, I could simply click all of my Circles when I’m sharing a post, but that limits my ability to reach out and make new connections. Maybe I’m asking for the world on this one.
What are your thoughts?

Hey Kim;
Thanks so much for pointing this “glitch” out about Google Plus. I noticed it the other day too. My thought of dealing with it – “Leave Google Plus alone as I have other Social Networking platforms that are working quite well thank you”.
Which of course brings up another whole discussion. Just how many times do we really need to re-build our whole Social Networking platform before we finally say “enough”!
Personally, while Google Plus does have some cool bells and whistles, for the most part right now I treat it as an infant. I go in and change its diapers but it pretty much sleeps in the background while I play with my more mature Social Network platforms.
Hmmmm – maybe you can do a post about that. LOL!
Great thoughts here Kim!
