01 How To Handle Spammy Messages On Facebook Groups and Fan Pages

All too often I hear people complain about receiving too many messages, updates and event invitations on Facebook from Groups or Fan Pages. Up until about five minutes ago I never gave the issue much thought. That was until I logged into my email and saw about 6 messages from the same group. I logged into Facebook, read and then deleted them. Almost immediately I received yet another message. Was I mad? No. Irritated? Maybe just a pinch, but why be irritated by this? I can simply go to that page and remove myself from the group (or unlike it if it was a Fan Page) and it takes about 5 seconds.

In my opinion Groups and Fan Pages are controlled by their admins and those admins have the right to post whatever they want and how often they want. If they want to message you, they can and you wanna know why? Because you joined the group or liked the page. So what I have to say to this is, if you don’t like what is posted or sent to you or you don’t like how often you are messaged, do something about it! You control your account and ultimately control what you want to see .So…… for the love of the Interwebs, quit complaining about something that you have complete control over.

What do you think? Do you agree or disagree? Are you a Fan Page admin that has run into complaints about what you post?

I hate all the spammy mails I get through FB, but you are 100% correct. I have total control over what groups I join and what notifications I get on FB so I should not moan about, I need to take control and sort it out myself.
