I have been the Social Media Strategist for Free Networking International since September and because I am always Online working I was never able to get to an event until this past Monday when I had the opportunity to speak on a panel at a Business Expo about how Social Media can indeed help drive people to your business. It was my first panel and only my second networking event that wasn’t based around something having to do with the Internet. I just want to say that this event has opened up so many doors for me. I seriously can’t believe how many inquiries I have gotten all because of this one event.
Now if you would have asked me two weeks ago if I thought traditional networking would be beneficial to me, I would have said “probably not”, however I have officially changed my mind people. You need to get out and shake hands (and then get back to the Internet and Social Networking). You see I have realized that by doing Online and “Offline” networking, you are opening the doors to ton of new possibilities and this is coming from someone that swears by Social Media and Networking. I don’t just swear by it, I live it each and every day and love every second that I am finding new, awesome tools for clients.
Have you tried networking with a professional business group in your area? If so, what were your thoughts? If not, why?
Will you give a networking event a chance?

Kim,
Love how you refer to it as “Traditional Networking”
Define “Traditional”? – oh how I hear the song from “Fiddler On The Roof”
Liz Strauss talks about “The Little Man Behind The Curtain” in her blog post here – http://bit.ly/avem04
My favorite book of all time still is “How To Win Friends and Influence People” by Dale Carnegie.
Thanks for coming out from “Behind The Curtain” Kim – Proud of YOU!

I haven’t tried networking with professionals in different social networking sites. I think, that event would be a really great help for me. I will try to find a way to attend that event. Thanks for sharing the news about that.
