Today’s the day.
Are you ready to quit one of the most powerful sites on the Internet today?
My answer is NO! I will not quit Facebook. The privacy issues that Facebook has are less than those of other sites and honestly there is nothing safe on the Internet that someone can’t find out for $5.00. Is Facebook cluttered and noisy? Sure is. Is Facebook buggy? All the time, but what Online sites aren’t? Do I care if someone finds out my email address because of a privacy leak? No. My email address isn’t giving anyone important and vital information of my real life. You can’t find out the name of my Father’s cousins best friends uncles first dog from that so I say the choice is yours, but I think if you are dwelling on this issue, you might be wasting your time!
If you are quitting, why? I am really curious to know why so many people are talking about quitting, if they have quit and if not, when they plan to quit.

I’m not quitting FB because of privacy issues….like you said, the info on there is stuff anyone can find out anyhow ….not to mention that I’m “friends” with people I don’t even know or communicate with on any type of regular basis so for all I know…..they’ve sold off my info the UK scammers who want to send me $5Million from the sale of some long lost relative’s textile mill.
All that aside I would consider “quitting Facebook” if I had to pay for it.

I’m not quitting – I honestly wish I could be more adept with Facebook. The potential with a network that large is enormous.
That doesn’t mean I haven’t been tempted to quit Facebook. There are plenty of ways to network and get the traffic one needs. But I’d need to know those better myself…

I’m not quitting because Facebook is the only site that allows me to keep up-to-date with most of my Friends including those I rarely see anymore but I don’t want to “slip away from”.

Michelle – I believe that should Facebook ever charge, a lot of people would quit making that the absolute worst decision they could make!
Ashok- There are many other sites, but there is only one #2 site Online! Glad you are sticking with Facebook!

@ Kim – If I make it to being the #2 site online, and people are reading Dickinson and Lincoln instead of playing Farmville, do I get to quit Facebook then?
I agree much of the criticism of Facebook is nonsense, but I’m not entirely sold on Facebook as a good thing in the first place. Mark Bauerlein at the Chronicle of Higher Education has wondered why it is that the name of things like the Vice President are everywhere online, yet students fail tests asking them the most basic questions. The answer has to do in no small part with things like Facebook – yeah, it’s a large network. It’s also a way for people to isolate themselves in their little world, and in Facebook’s case, I’d say people have found a way to isolate themselves from the rest of the Internet in large part.

My friends on Facebook make each frustrating day worthwhile as they are always there to cheer me up and share in th laughter and bad times.
I’m alos on twitter but the interaction there doesn’t come close to that which I have on Facebook.
Without Facebook, I’d probably be lost. No kidding

Quit facebook just for privacy issues?? that’s so stupid.. if you want no one to know your name, phone, email – it’s real simple.. you just don’t share it anywhere..
