Mike Crimmins Is Rockin’ 2010

It’s been a few weeks since I have been able to get a “Rockin’ 2010″ post out, but this week is different. This week I have the privilege of featuring a phenomenal blogger. His blog quickly became one of my favorites for two reasons.

It’s all about coffee
It isn’t dull. It’s full of life, personality and passion.

Mike Crimmins was nominated to be featured here for “Rockin’ it in 2010″. He isn’t a “Social Media Guru or Expert“, but that isn’t what this whole concept is about. The point behind my madness is to point out individuals THAT ARE DOING IT RIGHT!

The first time reading Mike’s blog (“Daily Shot Of Coffee“) I swear I could smell the coffee. I thought for sure my bottle of water tasted just like the Java I was reading about. I immediately wanted to go out and buy that particular Brand because it sounded so good.

Mike is a coffee addict that has built a community up around his love of the caffeinated goodness. He reviews all sorts of coffees as well as coffee makers and other products. If you have any coffee questions do yourself a favor and check out his blog first. He may already have an answer for you.

I decided to ask Mike some questions via email on how he came to be such an amazing and respected blogger and here is what he had to say.

Q. How long have you been blogging?

A. I started my first blog in 2005ish. I was building static websites before then, but the moment I made my first blog, I was hooked. It combined my love of writing, with my hobby of building websites.

Q. What inspired you to begin blogging?

A. I was busy building static websites, and thought I was too cool for blogs, but as I came across more and more blogs, I started to get curious. At first, I just liked blogging because it was a whole lot easier to update than a static site. However, it quickly became more than that, it became a way that I could write on a regular basis without the restrictions of static site.

Q. What was your first blog and do you still update it?

A. It was a blog about the Yankees, I know shocking. It was probably really ugly looking and the writing was horrible, but it was fun to work on. However, I think I spent more time working on the looks of the blog than actually writing on it. I don’t update it anymore. It was on Blogger and when they did something where they combined with Google, I could no longer get into it.

Q. What platforms do you use to promote your posts?

A. I wrote articles for places like Ezine Articles and setup up pages on Hub Pages, but nothing compares to Facebook and Twitter. It’s not just because those two sites have more people, but because I get to interact with people and they get to see the real me behind my writing.

Q. How has Social Media changed the blogging world for you?

A. Social media is a lot more than just another way to promote my blog. It’s a place where I can interact with the readers, other coffee addicts and even meet other people in the area that I probably would’ve never met otherwise.
