365 Days of Blogging Challenge | Day 18
Many people think that having a Social Media campaign means that they simply need a Facebook and a Twitter account. This of course is not true. You need more than just Facebook and Twitter these days because that ship has already sailed. People are highly familiar with that tactic and now is the time to use other strategies/sites to reach out to your target.

Let’s say you are a swimsuit designer. Having a Twitter and a Facebook is GREAT, but you should also think about who it is that you
really want to reach out to. Do you want to reach out to the people living among the snow in the mountains of Colorado? Ummm I
hope your answer is either NO or they aren’t my main focus, but they may take a vacation where they would need a swimsuit.
So how do you reach the people that live near the beach, swim often, vacation in warmer climates or simply just need a swimsuit?
One way to do this is to find your niche based social networks. You are looking for people that need swimsuits, how about a social site catering to vacations in the Bahama’s? What about those sites for swimmers? Do you see where I am going with this?
Another example, you sell board games and wish to reach the right people. Your niche based social networks for this would be the Mommy blogger sites, Daddy blogger sites or Parent and Family resource networks.
When doing this though, make sure you are not SPAMMING people with your crappy advertisement posts like you might be doing on Twitter or Facebook. Instead use these sites to your favor. Run contests, supply information that people WANT and make sure you are engaging and communicating with your connections that you make.
One more example, but this time I am going to go local. Let’s say you own a pizza shop. There’s only one, it is not a chain and you want to get the word out in a 20 – 30 mile radius that you have the best pizza in town. Look for local geographical based social sites. For instance, if you were in Tampa you could join the Brand Tampa social network. Once again, DO NOT SPAM PEOPLE!!!! Engage with the community, share your specials and discounts, be creative and always be social!
This is just ONE way to key into your targeted audience and just like Twitter and Facebook, you should be creative and not rely on only a few ideas.
The Internet is yours and the branding and promoting options are endless.
Think outside the box and be unique!

Great advice Kim. I have both a Twitter account and a Facebook Account / Business page. I have struggled for a long time with the who my audience should be. (I’m a local Photographer in the Tampa Bay area). Over the past few months I have been doing some house cleaning on my Twitter account and trying my best to attract local followers, I’m up to 1730 followers and I would say that about 65% of those are local, so I’m getting there. Facebook on the other hand has been a struggle.
140 followers and only 48 are following my fan page. Facebook is really different animal than Twitter, what’s your advice for growing your followers and fans on FB?
Warm regards,
Michael
Hi Michael! Thanks for dropping by and commenting. As far as the Facebook issue is concerned I would use all of your social tools (including blogging) to build on Facebook. Send Tweets out about your fanpage on Twitter, but remember that not all of the social platforms will work the best for you. If Twitter is the one that is generating a lot of “online” traffic, then stick with Twitter. Still focus on Facebook, but concentrate on Twitter.
Hope this helped!
Kim
What i noticed from experience is that you should target people who are ought to get your service, but not only that, you need to convince them and guide them to buy

Yes! Stop advertising to people who don’t care and look for people who can give value and interest for your business. Internet is as a big as the world so there is no limitations to let people know your business and owners should always consider the people wants and needs. With that, the business will stay and grow.
