The other day I was trying to explain to a friend what the new Facebook Timeline was like and the only 2 ways I could describe it without physically being able to show her was; it’s almost like your own website, but more like my Baby Book that I still update. It’s really not my Baby Book, it’s more like my “lifebook” which is now how I am viewing the new Facebook Timeline.

The new Timeline has so many of the same “features” as my Baby Book with theexception of saving/storing tangible items. On Facebook I can now record life achievements, injuries and illnesses, when you got your pet, lost a family member, got engaged, bought a home, got a roommate, etc….
There are so many great new features that will allow Facebook users the ability to make their Facebook experience more personal.
Have you checked out the new Timeline?

Great article about facebook timelines, its more informative than the I expected, I’ve been looking for something like this for a while. I’ll be following along with more posts, looking forward to studding more posts.

It is good to keep a contact with friends but too much social media is not healthy. I think it is a disaster.
The LifeBook will need lot of privacy regulations. lol..It is good to share life achievements, injuries, when you got a pet etc with your life or Facebook being public. But what about break ups, disappointments and betrayals.. Better these be in a “private” life book.

May be you’re right about Facebook Timeline but it gets really complex with a lot more options than ever. So what about those of us who believe in “simple is the best”?
You control what people see Online or have the capabilities of seeing. If you don’t want people to know about it, don’t post it. Even if you could choose specific people to only show things to (which you can) there are a million ways your posts can spread…
Think before posting is all I can suggest.
If it weren’t for this site I wouldn’t know about Facebook timeline. I must try this thing and introduce to my middle age friends(the only thing they know is click like, comment and that’s it.Thanks for a great post.

I really like the timeline puts forward. It’s hard to share special things like scrapbooks and so on with family 1000 miles away. I don’t think it will replace some of those keepsakes, but definitely serves to allow far off friends and family to feel apart. I have little doubt it’s a hit.

It’s a place for people to stick their life story…kind of like their own personal publishing press. I think that’s why people dig facebook so much (at least one reason): we get this huge satisfaction from substantiating what has happened to us in a printed medium. It’s like being in the news everyday! LOL
Many people get engrossed with Timeline! I haven’t tried it myself but it is highly recommended by a friend.
People in the current generation are becoming Facebook addict and people are getting busier in building social rapport through Facebook. Many times people reveal a lot about themselves through their updates. You can easily guess what is happening in their life. But, as Kim has said above “Think Before Posting”

Yes, I am thinking the same…sometimes I am really annoyed by all these social networks. I want to go to a desert island, but all these contacts…I don’t think that anyone can afford loosing them:(

A friend felt really aggravated when the Facebook updates made their rounds but she was happy with the Timeline update. I haven’t used it, either. And I have no idea about Timeline just yet!

Is Timeline a new social networking site or is it something Facebook has added to its features? I’m confused, sorry!
I too is a FB addict. I like the new timeline also but I’ve maid more simpler than anybody else. I’ve a lot of negative feedbacks about the timeline and I guess they just don’t know what the new timeline could bring in their lives.
Nice article. I must say that I’d really like to test out timeline, need to get access somehow. Any suggestions on how to go about that? I’d love to write a review of my own.

Surely this is one of the most drastic change that has ever happened to Facebook. With the launch of this new timeline profile, Facebook has covered a lot of areas where it lacked and for sure made the competition even tougher for Google+.

I love the new change of Facebook made. Facebook Timeline is a ever brilliant and the best feature because it can save all your data as a diary where you write everything personal.
You can by following the steps here -> http://techcrunch.com/2011/09/22/how-to-enable-facebook-timeline/
Agreed!

My thoughts – Timeline did NOT change the way I used Facebook – it was my so-called friends! I kept getting all these irrelevant, and childish postings, and your favorite word, shit! I kept getting postings such as, “I met so and so and we got drunk . . .”, I ate so and so for breakfast.” WHO CARES! Who gives a shit!
I finally gave up and befriended everybody. In my opinion, no great loss there. Perhaps, I have not learned how to appreciate Facebook yet. So, with a Timeline or not, time will probably make me appreciate it, or simply dump it!
There are great features on Facebook that allow you to hide specific friends’ posts. Hope your experience gets better.
