My number 2 tip is one that I blog about from time to time, but figured that it could use a refresher!
Tip #2:
“No Social interaction equals SPAM! Social media is supposed to be SOCIAL otherwise it would be called Spam Media OR One Sided Conversation Media“

That’s right, I am standing my ground on this one.
When you receive or make a phone call either business or personal, do you actually interact with the person on the other end?
What about at a party? Do you walk around passing out fliers about your business without saying “Hi“?
BE SOCIAL!

If you are NOT Pepsi, Nike, Best Buy, Microsoft or any other large established business you NEED to address your target audience Online w/out the spam otherwise you are wasting your time.
It takes less than 30 seconds to respond in 140 characters or less.
Do you follow Spam accounts on Twitter? Do you block auto DMers? What about Spam emails? Bet those are annoying too.
Guess what, if your Social Media streams are 99% one sided, you are spamming too!
Check out Tip #1 HERE
Well stay tuned for Tip #3!

Totally agree Kim, you couldn’t have said it better. Why do people think it’s called “Social Media” to begin with? Without the social part it’s just media and then what do you got…the news!
We already got plenty of that going around
Interaction is key because it’s that connection we can make with others which is so hugely powerful.
That is very true. I am very very big on interacting w/ others on all social platforms (and I have a lot of them lol) It’s the friendships you make that will in some way help you get to where you want to be
Thank you for commenting!

Couldn’t agree with you more on this one – social is about interacting not spamming.

Thanks for the comment Dawn! This is one that I don’t think can be stressed enough!
Well said Kim! You are right on target here too! I’ve actually started blocking people who only use API feeds to Twitter. Well, first I try to interact with them. But if I get no response and still only see API feeds, they hit my blocked list.
