Today the United States Postal Service announced that they took a loss of $8.5 billion in 2010! That’s an awful lot of money to be losing considering they already made cuts that totaled around $9 billion. Why is the USPS losing so much money? Is it because people are emailing more? Maybe it is easier to connect via Twitter than a personal hand written letter.
Even sending party invitations can be taken care of and managed more efficiently Online with the use of Facebook or Meetup rather than dropping $50.00 into stamps for your child’s birthday party. The Internet has provided many ways to bypass any need to use the USPS. We can pay most bills Online and I do with the exception of my rent. That is the only thing I mail each month.
I am hearing rumors that the USPS might stop collecting and delivering mail on Saturday’s. Do you think that would make any difference. Do you think that this is all the Internet’s fault or that companies like FEDx, UPS and DHL are also partly to blame and how come the Government isn’t bailing out our Postal Service like they did scam artists and crooks in the past few years? (ignore that last sentence, just my frustrations Lol).
Do you think that the USPS will be completely bankrupt as predicted by the end of 2011?
How often do you mail letters, bills or packages with the USPS?

I don’t use USPS myself since I don’t live in the US, but I’ve recieved goods sent through USPS when I order stuff from the US.
I think many postal services around the world suffer these days, I’m sure people are mailing letters much less than in the past. But then on the other hand, Internet shopping is probably still increasing and somebody has to deliver the packages…

HMM..YEE I THINK SO.
I don’t know if the USPS will survive in its current form. Online billing and bill pay are cutting into their business. E-mail and e-cards have greatly reduced the amount of letters and cards mailed and that trend will continue. Fed-Ex and UPS cut into the USPS business for overnight and package shipments. If it does survive, I suspect it will be vastly different than the USPS of today.
How can Internet kill USPS? Millions of people order ‘something’ from millions of websites which they need to ship. Either they will use Couriers or USPS. They’d actually grow with Internet (International shipping too! Just imagine how many orders amazon receive a day!)
